Philadelphia Slick

Philly Slick is one of our favorite hip hop acts so when they accepted our proposal to build a new site, we were super-psyched. The idea was to keep everything as bare as possible. Don’t over do the stylistic elements but give the current and potential somewhere to get their fix.

John Fitzpatrick

John and Freshout go way back. He’s done everything from composing illustrations for our clients to painting live at our events to designing custom apparel for our line. So when we found out that he was in need of a site to showcase his work, we jumped on it. Even though, design needed to be emphasized, the management and practicality of the system was more important. We wanted to give him something that he could stylize but could also manage without having to think. With all that understood… we built him a custom e-commerce system to manage his entire inventory, incoming orders, and his general informational pages so he could share his amazing work more efficiently.

Canvas Clash

After successfully producing and promoting multiple live music and film events, we wanted to put more of an emphasis on Philly’s vibrant art community. Working with Whole Foods, we developed the idea for Canvas Clash - a monthly summer series where artists paint live, vendors show and sell their work, DJs spin an eclectic mix of music, and everyone enjoys the fresh air while relaxing on the rooftop overlooking Philadelphia’s beautiful skyline.

The series was a huge success, attracting over 1,000 people at each event. The artwork composed at the Canvas Clash events will be exhibited in October 2007 at F.U.E.L. Collection, Philadelphia’s premiere gallery space and the former home to MTV’s “The Real World.”

Darfur Benefit Concert

The conflict in Darfur was (and still is) raging back in July of ‘06. We wanted to draw awareness to the genocide that was going on, as many people were oblivious to the situation. Bringing together a dynamic line-up of talent featuring Talor McFerrin, Philadelphia Slick, Subliminal Orphans, and performance artist Joshua Mays, we coordinated a concert at World Cafe Live on July 7th, 2006 promoting the message that the killing in Darfur must end.

It was a sell-out show, and we had a member from the Darfur Alert Coalition come to speak about the conflict to drive the message home.

Grimace Federation CD Release

Grimace Federation, a band whose music is self-described as having a funky jazz-tweaked indie rock sound, was all set for their release event celebrating their new album “Tasted by Chemists”. All they had to do was get the word out to make sure they had a packed house – easier said than done.

We planned out a thorough street promotion campaign along with a viral online outreach, and within a week everyone who was anyone knew about the event. The show was packed wall-to-wall needless to say, and Grimace Federation’s album sales have been on the rise ever since.

Flava Fest

Working with Goodie Goodie Productions and the Philly Gathering, we produced the first Flava Fest on September 23rd, 2006 in Clark Park (Philadelphia). It was a free-admission park event to bring the community together for a day to celebrate the positive aspects of hip-hop culture. There were performance art displays, a break dancing competition, several vendors, DJs both nationally known and locally respected, and an open mic session.

From coordinating the logistics of the event, to executing the promotion and on-site management, we oversaw all aspects of Flava Fest. It was an amazing event that attracted over 2,500 people throughout the day, and we’re currently working on the second annual Flava Fest which will take place on September 21st and 22nd of 2007.

215 Hip Hop

215 came at us with a tight budget and some awesome ideas. We really wanted to make the project happen so we made some compromises and moved forward. Given the time constraints and limitations on resources, we gave them the best we could. The site is fully content managed via WordPress and it directly hooks up to the 215hiphop flickr account to retrieve all their newest photos and display them within the site. They also have a custom events calendar and a pretty extensive mailing list to help them stay connected with their people.

Now and then, they’ll call us for a few changes here and there but they’ll be the first ones to tell you… we take care of them every time. In addition to all that… they also got a super-powerful ad management system to make their advertisers and sponsorers happy. Check out some of the screenshots below.

40th Street Summer Series

For the annual 40th Street Summer Series this year held on U. Penn’s campus (sponsored by PNC Bank, University of Pennsylvania, University City District, and Foundation Community Arts Collective), the organizers wanted to incorporate live music performances. We were contacted to help coordinate a diverse line-up of local talent and promote the event, and we graciously accepted.

We booked Philadelphia favorites Subliminal Orphans (hip-hop/rock), Dr. Ketchup (funk/jazz), Walker Lundee (indie rock), Philly Slick (hip-hop), and DJ Skeme Richards (break beat guru) to create the right mix of entertainment for the event. To promote the outdoor festival, we send out print collateral with our field marketing team for city-wide distribution at high foot traffic locations, got our web team to spread the word online, and did hand-to-hand flyering at events that matched the college-aged demographic the event organizers wanted to attract. The day of the event was beautiful, and everyone there loved the atmosphere and music. Mission accomplished!
